From Waistcoats to Wrap Dresses: FriYAY Night New Arrivals
Friday night is upon us and that means one thing:
It's time to settle in for our weekly run-down of the new arrivals at Burkes.
Each week, we create a social media video that shows you some of the highlights that have landed on the rails during the week. Starting today, we'll be pairing that social media video with a blog post — and we're doing this for a few reasons:
- To help you glean more details about pieces you may have seen in the video, loved, and wanted to know more about
- To have a handy place where you can find links to all of the pieces shown in the Friday night video
- To give you the option of reading (and looking at photos) of the pieces, if you prefer that over watching a video.
Pssst: For those of you who are signed up for our newsletter, you'll be the first to receive news about our picks from the new arrivals each week (as well as updates on sales, discounts, and other news).
Let's get cracking on the Friday night fun:
This week's Friday night outfits
Vibrant dress wear & a timeless coat
The first look, shown by Michaela, features the most fabulous blouse by Rant & Rave — a company that designs their pieces right here in Ireland.
The Hayley Blouse is a phenomenal shade of magenta; such a fun, eye-catching colour to wear. It features a little bit of ruching on the sleeve and a ruffled collar. It retails at 54.99.
On the bottom, Michaela wears the ONLY Kiri Faux Leather Pants. These have a straight leg, a super smooth inner lining, and hug your curves in all the right places. The Kiri pants retail at 44.99.
Over the top, Michaela tried on the timeless Anna Wool Coat by Vero Moda. This longline coat is double-breasted, with buttons up the front and deep pockets on either side. The soft grey fleck of the wool is such a versatile shade; it would work well as a coat worn throughout the winter — and indeed, over many seasons. The Anna coat retails at 129.99.
Classic black & white blouse and pants combo
The second featured look in this week's video is shown by Grace, who paired a cropped white blouse by Tiffosi with a fabulous pair of wide-leg faux leather pants by Robell.
The Tiffosi Meloa Shirt has these fuzzy little polka dots on them, which look cute and feel mega soft. In true Tiffosi fashion, it's also very keenly priced, at just 25.99.
As for the Robell Cloe Trousers, they were an absolute winner in Grace's books. She highlights how comfortable they are to wear — a point worth noting for anyone who's historically been a bit averse to faux leather clothing, fearing its stickiness or discomfort.
These pants, whilst being incredibly comfortable, also look fab. The wide leg is flattering and easy to wear, while the cropped cut lets you show off your footwear. Robell is known for its premium cuts, fabrics, and high-end quality — and these trousers retail at 134.99.
Military style made fun with animal print
New on the rails this week is a fun number from Kyla, who's brought a new lease of life to the classic military jacket by bringing it out in leopard print. The Kyla Military Jacket features lapels, shiny gold buttons, and a gentle frill at the base. Retailing at 69.99
Michaela paired the statement jacket with a basic off-white tee by Vero Moda and the ONLY Sui Denims in a black wash.
The Sui jeans offer a lengthening silhouette thanks to their straight leg design, medium-high waist, and fitted cut around the thighs. They're well stocked in the shop and going for 39.99.
Terracotta wrap dress
Brought out by Vero Moda as part of their Boutique range, this burnt auburn number is just stunning. Flowy, soft, and easy to wear, the design features a faux wrap (meaning no jiggery-pokery needed to get the fabric sitting right) and a sash waistband.
Thanks to the contrasting colour palette of the terracotta/ecru dress, this is a piece that brings both darker and fairer skin tones to life.
Pop on a pair of heels and grab a clutch — and you're ready for a night on the town. The Vero Mode Rie Wrap Dress is yours for 49.99.
Waistcoat & wide-leg jeans
The Yolanda wide-leg jeans by Noisy May have long been one of our favourite pairs of denims — and you can see why. The wide-leg jeans trend is still going strong, and we are here for it. They're comfy, look cool, and can be paired with so many different pieces for polar opposite looks.
For this outfit, Michaela paired the Yolanda Jeans with a brand new black waistcoat by Fransa — in the shop for 39.99. Psssst: did you catch our waistcoat edit on social media, where we showed you two different ways to wear it?
Underneath, Michaela wears a pop of colour on a glitzy t-shirt by Vero Moda, which has a streak of pink metallics — bringing some vibrancy to an otherwise monochrome look.
Stripey tee & stone wash jeans
There really is a lot to be said for a good quality, heavy-weight tee, like this one from Vero Moda. Featuring black and white stripes and emblazoned with the word ‘London’, this t-shirt goes for 19.99 and pairs just perfectly with the Linda Jeans.
Vero Moda's Linda Jeans are the ultimate mom jean. A little loose on the thighs, tapered at the ankles, and good deep pockets front and back. The stone grey wash and high waist make them a fab pair of everyday denims.
